Inspections

The Inspections Department handles all commercial and residential inspections for the city. Before beginning any construction in the city you must submit building plans and obtain the appropriate permit. You must have Adobe Reader to view these documents. If you do not have it installed you can download it here.

The following are general provisions for this process.

To obtain a building permit:

  1. Two (2) copies of the building plans (if for a subdivision, the two sets of plans for each different house to be built. The inspector will review the plans and figure the square footage and cost.
  2. Copy of the sewer/impact permit.
  3. Copy of the plot plan. Building Permit Application

Additional permits:

  1. Electrical (Electrician must have a Master Card)Electrical Permit Application
  2. Plumbing/Gas Plumbing Permit Application
  3. HVAC(Mechanical) HVAC Permit Application

Typical list of inspections:

  1. Electric Tempo
  2. Footings/Plumb Slab (must have water)
  3. Foundation/Slab (must have plastic and termite unless it is done at framing)
  4. Waterproofing (if applicable)
  5. Frame and Rough ALL (Termite unless it was done at foundation/slab) This includes Plumbing (must have water); Gas (if applicable, must have pressure); Electrical; and HVAC
  6. Final Electrical (box must be labeled)
  7. Final Gas (if applicable, must have pressure)
  8. Final C/O (Certificate of Occupancy - house must be ready to move into, i.e., all trim work completed, landscaping, etc)

**If the basement does not have a sprinkler system, the walls have to have insulation and 1/2" fire rock with insulation and 5/8" fire rock on the ceiling. If the duct wall goes thru the wall it has to be metal.**

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All subcontractors must have a license to do business in the City of Moody.

A FAILED INSPECTION FEE OF $20.00 FOR FIRST FAILURE ON INSPECTION; THE FEE IS $50.00 IF THE FAILED SAME INSPECTION ON THE SAME HOUSE.

You may submit your plans and the application for permit at the same time. The submitted plans will be reviewed and a permit will be issued.
